There are several factors to consider when evaluating your Internet access options. First there is the service cycle for ordering and installation. This is how long you will have to wait for your modem and service to be installed and operational once you order it. Next, you must figure the cost of equipment, installation and monthly service. And finally, you must evaluate the speed of the Internet service and how it will enhance your life. The chart below provides a price and service comparison.
Yes. Unlimited email addresses are available at no charge. Can I access my Trans-Video.Net e-mail account away from my home or office?
Yes! Go here:WebmailCan I have more than one computer hooked up to my modem?
Yes, but a hub, router, or modem sharing must be installed to do so.
A hub is very similar to a multi-outlet power strip. Once the hub is connected to the modem, additional computers can be connected to the hub in order to share the Internet signal. Each computer will need an Ethernet card to interface with the hub. You receive 2 IP addresses per account, which means using a hub you can easily put 2 computers online. If you have more than 2 computers that need internet access, a cable modem router is recommended. What is my connection speed?
Does your connection speed seem slow? You can check it in several places, including here:
Computers built before 1998 might not be able to take full advantage of cable modem speeds because they weren't designed with this new technology in mind. But all computers can be helped along. If you know your way around your Windows-based computer, here are some suggestions:
Check out our troubleshooting page. Why don't you offer Usenet news service?
People who use news service are loyal to it (the creator of this website is one of them). But times have changed since Usenet was first available. Bandwidth to carry the more than 60,000 newsgroups (including huge binary files of music, photographs, and programs) would entirely consume Trans-Video.Net's Internet connection and lock it out to regular customers!
We also don't provide free access to external news services because of the cost to provide news "streams." The services require that 20% of Trans-Video.Net's customer base have access to news at one time, a cost that would have to be shared by raising rates to everyone for a service that very few now use with the advent of web-based bulletin boards and chat sites.
Trans-Video.Net provides residential Internet access for a very modest fee and business access for a higher fee. We allocate our bandwidth on the basis of how residential and business users traditionally access Internet services. Servers consume a much higher chunk of this bandwidth -- a burden which, as with news, is unfair to require all users to shoulder. Individual servers also slow down access for your neighbors.
We encourage those who wish to run large web servers to contact dedicated web hosts.
It can! You must sign up as a Trans-Video.Net customer and Trans-Video.Net must know that your modem exists. We need the MAC address found on the modem itself, which you can provide to us when you sign up for Trans-Video.Net cable modem service.
